Reviews for Sandhill Nurseries Cafe
Review highlights
Based on 116 reviewsSandhill Nurseries Cafe in Preston, Hull, is widely praised for its consistently high-quality, home-cooked meals that offer great value for money. Customers appreciate the use of locally sourced ingredients, with popular menu items such as scones, toasties, and hearty Sunday dinners frequently highlighted. The friendly and attentive staff, along with a spacious and purpose-built dining area, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor seating is also favored during pleasant weather. While the overall experience is positive, some feedback notes that the lighting indoors can feel a bit subdued, potentially impacting the ambiance. Despite occasional busy periods, wait times are generally short, making it a recommended destination for both casual visits and regular return trips.
We have now visited the cafe on half a dozen occasions and have always found the home cooked food to be both extremely tasty and value for money. Our only slight criticism was the subdued lighting levels which leads to a rather depressing atmosphere.
Consistent quality and space despite being busy at times... outside is great in good weather... Nice big mugs of coffee... bacon & brie toastie is a fave of mine and the scones are probably the best I have had....
Called in for breakfast on our way home from a few days camping at Burton Constable.First impressions count and it didn’t let us down. Smiley staff on entering, and lovely purpose built restaurant to eat in. We had 2 x small breakfast and cappuccinos. All was excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely recommend to others and return again when we are back in the neighbourhood.
Very good plants in good condition.Excellent cafe, locally sourced products. Steak pie full of actual steak ,very tasty.Lovely xmas things, worth a visit
The small Sunday dinner priced just shy of 6 is very good value for money and usually both delicious and filling. With dozens of tables, only at obvious peak times will you be queueing longer than 15 minutes.
Just had a fabulous breakfast there . Full breakfast had 2 large quality sausage, 2 rashers bacon, 2 hash browns, a free range egg two halves of grill tomato , beans and a slice of toast for 6.99.With a pot of tea for myself , a latte for my wife and an extra slice of toast each came to just over 20 which is about the average but the quality of the breakfast is fantastic for the price. Was only a few people in when we visited at 9:15 but was filling up by 10am. The food was brought out in good time with the bacon , eggs and tomatoes looking like they had been cooked to order. Only tiny negative was the toast needed a bit longer but that's personal preference although it came from a white bloomer loaf which was spot on for mopping the egg yolk up.Definitely coming back for another.
Me and ddx (daughter) enjoyed the cafe.. we had large cappacino"s and boy we thought they would have been average size but no.. they where large and welcoming..we also had cheese scones which were lovely.. looking round the staff where welcoming and the place was spot-less.. top marks from us.. deffo.. xx
It was the first time we've been in a long time we where impressed with the amount of garden equipment they have there the minute you set foot through the front entrance we where surrounded with many types of flowers and as you walk into the next section you'll find all the implants you require for your gardening.outside was a large selection of flowers and shurbs also in there a restaurant with everything on the menu to suit one's taste we enjoyed our time there and certainly be going back it's well worth a visit
